Let Us Kneel Before our King

A Sonnet on Psalm 95

Israel left Egypt to go to the promised land,
And forty years they wandered the wilderness,
Provoking their God with ears and hearts amiss,
His wrath displayed by His wondrous hand;
From them His rest He kept by promise sure.
By His great strength He form-ed every hill,
Made us His blessed flock by His kind will,
As thankful sheep we ought to now endure.
For by His hands the depths He did unlock,
And spread o’er earth the the cold and raging sea,
But for His grace we would not have a plea,
And thus we cling unto our saving Rock.
     O come and let us kneel before our King,
     And joyful alleluias ever sing!
