When my heart and mind o'erflow
My thoughts into a poem go.

A vessel fit, my words to hold
My ideas to shape and mold.

It took a while for me to find
This way to tame my wand’ring mind.

But when we lost our Valerie dear
and the grief was ever near,

I took to putting soul to verse,
In written space to fight the curse.

To keep life in perspective right,
To keep it in a holy light.

May God be pleased my words to use
To readers bless and pains diffuse.
