Love Bleeds

, ,
Certainly it's not for faint of heart,
At first it seems with love there is no cost;
Such innocence is dangerous a start.

Onto the sweetness bitterness is tossed,
When trials come along; (they surely will.)
Love leans in or else it will be lost.

The work of love; it always is uphill,
A willingness to yield and to invest;
A fruit of deeper love the cup then fills.

When object of your love endures a test,
You enter in and do not count the pain;
You weep together and you share the stress.

The sacrifice is never done in vain,
Though it may leave you spent and emptied out,
Your loss will for your love be blessed gain.

But when your love your pain has brought about,
Forgiveness from you must come as a gift;
And does if to your love you are devout.

You will do all to mend the aching rift,
Or else your former closeness will secede.
Love the ups and downs together sifts.

If you will not give blood, (for blood love needs,)
Then better not to fan love’s early flame;
Because the truth is true love always bleeds.

Proof of this is when there is a change;
And death or distance rips the soul in two.
The blood will freely flow and there’s no shame.

Thus bled the King of love with love most true.
Such blood enlivens love and life anew.
